This was a fantastic stay. On the quiet side of the island, but only a 10 min ride on a golf cart to town for restaurants and dive shops. Stephanie contacted me a week before our stay to arrange ‘check-in’. She gave great recommendations for things to do, dive shops, and places to eat. Anita was on the dock with a sign as soon as we stepped off the ferry, she took us to rent a golf cart and we followed her to this beautiful sanctuary. I’ve never stayed in such an amazing place. The views, the sounds of the waves crashing throughout the night, seeing the colors of sunrise over the water from your bed when you open your eyes. Beautiful paradise. Serene and picturesque- the sound of the waves breaking on the reef combined w/the color of the water, is breathtaking and meditative. The entire property is surrounded by and is built on what looks like a beach b/c it’s all sand- and it is kept up impeccably by Oscar, the property manager.
There are classic teak lounge chairs on the beach facing the water. One day I decided to lounge for a bit but the moment I sat down I realized I wanted my book- so I ran back in to retrieve it and when I came back, Oscar had placed cushions on the chairs. They sort of magically appeared. And they disappeared in much the same way after I’d gone in for the night. Oscar was there when we needed him and invisible otherwise. It was reassuring having him on the property since it’s a bit out of town.
Each morning we woke happily with the sun illuminating the room- not a huge or overwhelming light but a perfect, gentle sunlight. The bed is large and super comfy. Luxurious for sure. I actually had to investigate the sheets and I’m going to purchase the same ones for my bed at home! We enjoyed the fact that there was legit hot water, after having taken cold showers in Roatan for 5 days prior to Utila. We didn’t see any turtles b/c we weren’t there during nesting season, but we walked the beach and found/saw many treasures. The entire front of TS is glass and there is a wonderful, large deck with a pair of teak chairs and table in between. Great to sit and take it all in.
Town isn’t far and we rented a golf cart – which we genuinely enjoyed b/c after awhile we became extremely proficient at navigating the road and its *special qualities* and could speed into town and back right along with the locals (day 1 was the practice day).
If we’d had one more day I believe that we’d have either: rented a kayak and paddled through the canal which cuts thru the island OR we’d have chartered a boat to Water Cay. I guess that’ll have to be next time.

Absolute perfection. As someone who spent a year living on the island I was hesitant about this spot due to the distance but it was an easy golf cart ride into town. The turtle experience was magical. I would stay here again and again. Thank you for everything! Katlin, August 2021
We booked for 8 days and could have stayed for a lifetime. Everything was amazing and as advertised, from the early communication from Stephanie to the education and laughter with Don Oscar (the world’s most wonderful and sincere grounds keeper) to the Turtles laying eggs and hatching in the same evening. The immaculate and well appointed bungalow provided a true sense of peace, solitude and comfort. Falling asleep and waking to the sound of the waves, leaserly consuming sunrises and sunsets while the cool breeze provides much relished relief from the heat and humidity. An absolute sense of safety and community surrounded the home, beach and the neighborhood.
It is a beautiful and scenic 10-15 minute drive by golf cart to the downtown area and most of the exquisite dining opportunities of which the island offers many. Keep an eye out for Captain Jim’s house on the way to Mango Tango if you’re interested in an amazing captain to ferry you around the cayes. Andrew, August 2021
Utila is such a beautiful place and our stay at Turtle Beach was the best we could have imagined. Everything was perfect from the prompt communication from Stephanie, Anita meeting us at the ferry dock to help us coordinate our golf cart rental (highly recommended for getting around the island easily), to being greeted at the property with fresh coconut water. This is a perfect place, a true slice of paradise. Quiet, calm days with white sands, palm trees and sounds of the ocean. The place is well appointed and furnished tastefully. Great ocean vistas and we would love to come when the turtles hatch. It is a bit ways from the Main Street and recommend you rent a moped or golf cart. Anita is a wonderfully attentive ambassador with great recommendations and made our first visit to Utila a truly remarkable one. Don’t think book it! You will not regret it. Jose, March 2021
Turtle Bay is top notch. From the ease of booking (quick responses and helpful information) to being greeted by the property manager when we stepped off of the ferry from Roatan (who escorted us to the grocery store before taking us to our bungalow) to the thoughtfulness of the grounds keeper (who was always waiting for us with a flashlight in the evening and with fresh coconut water in the morning) we couldn’t have enjoyed our stay more. Our room was tastefully decorated and had the most amazing view. We wish we could have stayed longer, but plan to return soon! Thank you for everything! Virginia, February 2021
