On Utila, there are two non-profit organizations that help with turtle conservation.  The Bay Islands Conservation Association or BICA has been preserving marine life and turtles for over 27 years on the tiny island of Utila.  More recently Kanahau Utila Research and Conservation Facility opened its doors and amongst many jungle research projects on the island, they also help with turtle conservation.  Kanahau offers eco tours and educational courses as well.

Factoid

It was recently discovered that this is the first reptile known to have biofluorescent capabilities. This turtle is one of the coolest glow-in-the-dark animals and scientists don’t know for sure why the turtle glows both yellow and red. They think biofluorescence may be used for finding and attracting prey, defense, or even communication. They are researching to see if the Green Turtle has this capability as well.
